What type of business card would you expect from a trend setting hardwood flooring company? Well, you’d be right, solid wood business cards!

These wooden business cards are a beautiful dark Brazilian Walnut wood. As you can see, there is nothing printed on the cards, but the information is actually printed into the wooden business card.

A design company called Little Jacket has some very unique business cards.  These business cards are shaped like luggage tags and even have a hole to tie them to your luggage.

Victoria Vaughan has a unique, and fun business card. While this business card isn’t using because it’s plastic, it’s unique for the red splotches that seem to be different on each business card.

As you can see in the picture above, these business cards look like they have ink spilled on them. These business cards are somewhat different in the fact that they contain a lot of information.

Contact info normally is cell phone and fax, Vaughan-O-Graphic business cards add business office line, email address, company tag line, website address, and person’s business title.

Most recently designed business cards tend to err on the side of white space and a lack of information. It’s nice to see a difference in design.

Arrow Pictures has a very unique business card.  It is made of hard yellow plastic, but it has holes in it!  The business card appears to be either an old hotel key card or swiss cheese.  I think Arrow Pictures is German, so I don’t know the significance of the holes, but they surely do make this plastic business card stand out from the other thick plastic business cards.

Anyone have any information about Arrow Pictures or who designed these business cards?

The second problem with chocolate business cards is that they melt. Personally I don’t want to keep an ice chest in the trunk just to keep my business cards cool.

These Heads Inc. business cards are a great example of a unique business card. This business card is solid plastic, and looks thick as well. I would imagine that these plastic cards are expensive, but if you’re in a crowded market they could easily set you apart.

As you can see, there is a lot of empty space which has become a design trend over the last 5 years. These business cards are sure to turn heads when you hand them out.

Regardless, the President (past and current) always have business cards. During many presidencies you can even write a letter to the president and he will mail you a business card. Well, someone on his staff will mail you a business card.

These business cards are usually embossed with a gold presidential seal right in the middle. Many times they have a fake signature right over the middle of the card (lithograph) and the address of the White House in the top right corner.

Oh, and you can even buy them on eBay! Here is a signed business card from Gerald Ford. If you are named “Jim” this can be even more special:

There is no need for me to explain the benefit to the extremely unique business cards.

However, I would like you to think about the downside of having leather business cards.

1. Price

I wasn’t able to find an actual price for leather business cards, but I can assure you they won’t be cheap. However, if you are looking for something more unique the plastic business cards and metal business cards, and the price isn’t important these leather business cards might be for you.

2. Cow Lovers and PETA members

While showing off your amazingly unique business cards, you might offend someone. In business this is a major downside. PETA members for sure will not appreciate your attempt at uniqueness nor will someone who enjoys having cows around as pets…

3. Durability

I cannot comment on the durability of leather business cards because I have never seen them in person. I don’t know how the manufacturing process works, nor do I know how they are treated when they are finished. They will probably last a good long while, but you would have to check with the leather business card manufacturer.

Leather business cards are not for everyone, but for those who are looking for an extrememly unique business card, leather business cards are perfect!

You have probably seen, or maybe even have a magnetic business card on your refridgerator. This is the most common place for magnetic business cards. With that said, is your business, the type that would benefite from being on a refrigerator?

If you are a web design company, you probably don’t need customers seeing your business card on a regular basis as they get a glass of milk. You would be better suited with a metal business card, or a plastic business card. Those are unique and draw attention to themselves.

For the average business that provides a service, such as plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians, dog walkers, computer repair technicians, etc, a magnetic business card would work great for you!

Here are a few quick reasons why magnetic business cards would be great for your business.

1. You can still get full color, logos, images, and any other graphics you want.

2. Magnetic business cards stay in sight and are reminders to the homeowners when they need your service. Magnetic business cards are usually placed in a highly trafficed area instead of a wallet or business card holder.

3. Magnetic business cards are very durable. Since they are thicker and heavier than traditional business cards, they are stronger and last longer. This actually provides you with a greater return on your business card investment.

Folded business cards have a few key advantages over regular business cards.

1. They are still very easy to carry.

When you start to use metal business cards, or tri fold business cards, they can get bulky and difficult to carry, especially if you carry more than 10 at a time. Folded business cards are only twice as big as regular business cards so you can still carry a large amount.

2. They have additional room for whatever you want.

Many people like to use the back of folded business cards as room for a map to their business, advertising, coupons or free samples, a miniature brochure, or times and dates of operation. These ideas just add to the effectiveness of folded business cards.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to get folded business cards for free like you can regular business cards.
